Girls Just Want To Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper

I come home in the morning light
My mother says: "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh, mother, dear
We're not the fortunate ones
And girls
They wanna have fun
Oh, girls
Just wanna have fun

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells: "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh, daddy, dear
You know you're still number one
But girls
They wanna have fun
Oh, girls, just wanna have
That's all they really want...
Some fun...

When the working day is done
Oh, girls
They wanna have fun
Oh, girls
Just wanna have fun....

Girls
They want
Wanna have fun
Girls
Wanna have

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I wanna be the one to walk in the sun
Oh, girls
They wanna have fun
Oh, girls
Just wanna have
That's all they really want...
Some fun...

When the working day is done
Oh, girls
They wanna have fun
Oh, girls
Just wanna have fun...

Girls
They want
Wanna have fun
Girls
Wanna have

They just wanna
They just wanna...
(Girls...)
They just wanna
They just wanna...
(Girls just wanna have fun...)

Let It Go music video

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight,
not a footprint to be seen.
A kingdom of isolation and it looks like I'm the queen.
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside.
Couldn't keep it in, Heaven knows I tried.
Don't let them in, don't let them see.
Be the good girl you always have to be.
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know.
Well, now they know!
Let it go, let it go!
Can't hold it back any more.
Let it go, let it go!
Turn away and slam the door.
I don't care what they're going to say.
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway.
It's funny how some distance,
makes everything seem small.
And the fears that once controlled me, can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do,
to test the limits and break through.
No right, no wrong, no rules for me.
I'm free!
Let it go, let it go.
I am one with the wind and sky.
Let it go, let it go.
You'll never see me cry.
Here I'll stand, and here I'll stay.
Let the storm rage on.
My power flurries through the air into the ground.
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back; the past is in the past!
Let it go, let it go.
And I'll rise like the break of dawn.
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand, in the light of day.
Let the storm rage on!
The cold never bothered me anyway...

Wind-bells

Wind-bells

Furin are small bells made of glass, metal or ceramic which are hung from the eaves of houses chiefly in summer.

A rectangular strip of paper, which is called tanzaku, is hung from a clapper, and ancient Japanese poems or verses are written on it.

When the tanzaku catches the breeze, the bell chimes. In the hot, humid Japanese summer, the sound of the wind bell vibrating in the breeze is, for the Japanese, a puff of coolness.

The National Flower

The National Flower  国花

The flower that is most beloved by the Japanese people and that symbolizes Japan is the cherry blossom.

From the cherry blossom which falls only within a week or so, the Japanese sense beauty, as well as transience, melancholy, and perhaps honor of graceful resignation.

The lyricism of the Japanese people has been closely connected with this flower from ancient times; since the Heian Period(794-1185), it has been often included in classical Japanese poems.

From the early years of the Showa Period (1926-1989) until the Second World War, the way that the cherry blossom quickly and gracefully falls was appropriated into militarism to beautify the deaths of the suicide units.

Today, Japan has sent cherry trees with their beauty overseas as the symbol of peace, and their light pink flowers bloom every spring, for example, beside the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., and on the remains of the Berlin Wall.

Doll's Festival

Doll's Festival

The Doll’s Festival occurs on March 3 and is an occasion to pray for young girls' growth and happiness.
Most homes with girls display dolls for the Doll's Festival and dedicate to them peach blossoms, rice cake cubes, special colored and diamond-shaped rice cakes, white sake, and other items.
The origin of the Doll’s Festival is an ancient Chinese practice in which the sin of the body and misfortune are transferred to a doll and washed away by setting the doll in a river to drift away.
When this practice spread to Japan, it was linked to girl's playing with dolls and, in the Edo Period (1603-1867), was developed into the Doll’s Festival.

Japanese culture, which can be called "a culture of harmony," places importance on harmony among friends.
One cultural form for confirming harmony involves friends getting together to drink sake and eat, and nabe-ryori is appropriate for such gatherings.
Soup stock and ingredients are put in a pot and heated; four or five persons sit around it, put soup and ingredients from the pot into their own bowls and eat.
This enhances the bond of friendship and stimulates the discussion.

There are all sorts of ingredients and soup stocks, as many flavors and ways of preparing, in fact, as there are households.

Snow Country

Snow Country   雪国

"The train came out of the long tunnel of a border area into the snow country."
That is the famous opening of Nobel Prize-winning novelist Kawabata Yasunari's masterpiece "Snow Country".
This phrase accurately indicates a geographical feature of Japan.
In winter, a chilly seasonal wind blows from Siberia, striking the mountain range that runs through the central part of Honshu from the northeast to the southwest and causing heavy snowfall on the Japan Sea side.
There is not much snowfall on the Pacific Ocean side of the mountain range.
Thus, when one comes out of the tunnel from the Pacific side to the Japan Sea side, the yuki-guni with snow piling high appears dramatically.
The term yuki-guni therefore indicates the regions on the Japan Sea side of Honshu, the Tohoku area and all of Hokkaido.
